The Role
This role sits within a tight knit research team that underpins a wider integrated communications practice. You will take ownership of both quantitative and qualitative research projects end-to-end, from design through to analysis and reporting, managing small to medium scale projects with minimal oversight.

You will have at least 3 years professional experience in a market or social research role, ideally within a smaller agency or consultancy. You are equally comfortable programming online surveys as you are coordinating focus group logistics or conducting thematic analysis on qualitative data, with strong writing skills and the confidence to present research insights to a range of stakeholders. This role is based in Melbourne, with some interstate travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver tailored quantitative surveys and trackers, analysing results in tools such as SPSS, Displayr or Q
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of in-depth interviews and focus groups, both online and face-to-face
  • Manage and moderate online research communities and discussion boards
  • Turn mixed-methods research into high-quality reports and visual presentations that shape strategy
  • Develop project management plans, ensuring timelines and budgets are met
  • Coordinate field work companies, data partners and recruitment agencies, troubleshooting issues proactively
  • Report project progress via work-in-progress meetings for internal teams and clients
  • Act as the primary client contact and dedicated researcher on individual projects
  • Collaborate with account managers and communications consultants to ensure insights support strategy
  • Partner with senior team members in drafting tender documents, proposals and case studies
  • Adhere strictly to quality standards, professional codes of conduct and ethical/legislative frameworks in research delivery

About You
You bring strong mixed-methods research skills, an eye for turning complex data into clear visual insights, and the organisational capability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines. You thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team and are keen to sharpen your skills across the full research spectrum, with clear pathways to more senior tiers. You will have:

  • At least 3 years professional experience in market or social research, preferably within a smaller consultancy environment
  • Demonstrated mixed-methods experience across quantitative and qualitative research
  • Strong hands-on experience with survey programming tools (e.g. Qualtrics) and analysis software; prior experience with qualitative platforms is desirable
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of drafting high-quality reports and PowerPoint presentations
  • Exceptional organisational capabilities, with the ability to track multiple projects concurrently and meet challenging deadlines
  • Tertiary qualification in a discipline related to Communications or Social Science preferred
